Lavasa

Back after a long hiatus. My baby and work really kept me busy but now that I have some time on hands, I plan to be active on blogspot. With a baby in tow, obviously I have not had a chance to travel anywhere. We did visit our relatives in Mumbai during Diwali but it was a quick trip for bhau beej. This was the first time we travelled with our baby and also the first time we took a car to Mumbai (well no specific reason for not going earlier). Our second trip was to Lavasa in December. This too was a one night trip. Staying in a hotel is difficult as compared to staying at somebody's home. In Mumbai, it was so easy to plan for Nishad's food etc. You get boiled utensils, can make his favourite khichadi at home and also have a clean bed to stay. I did not know what to expect in Lavasa. We booked a service apartment, especially for its kitchen. The drive was good. We saw Varasgaon dam on the way. For that time of the year it was relatively quite sunny and hot. My impression of Lavasa - the drive through the winding road, as we near Lavasa or Dasve village, is good. My hopes went up as we neared the place but then .. its a hyped place. Nothing much to see or do. Very expensive considering that it has nothing much to offer. A waterfront, lined up with a few restaurants. Parks - Kamla Nehru is better than the one available here. Hotel was decent enough. We were given a free upgrade and our new one bedroom apartment had much better interiors. The apartment was huge enough to be a 2 BHK in Pune. We reached late in the afternoon so the only open restaurant was a pizza joint. We were late since we had to give Nishad some time and space after the drive and of course his food. Evenings were cool. People came out on the waterfront and the place was full of life. One hotel was hosting a wedding reception on the waterfront. The romantic old songs put up at the party created a very good mood. Kids were playing on the scooters (no idea what is the correct word for that.) The scooters which kids used when I was a kid, had to be pushed by one leg. Nowadays they are very technically advanced. Shops sell some decent stuff. We went to a govt shop and they had some nice pillow covers, a different variety. I enquired of the price but as usual, the woman said that prices were not communicated to them yet. Typical govt attitude. Not that I was going to buy them but the fact remains that they have a customer but they are not ready to make a sale. The next day we went for a boat ride. After a really long time, I was craving to have some fun. So I decided to go on the jetski. Wow. It was an amazing feeling. That one ride took me back a few years, when I used to be a carefree girl, ready for adventure. This was the best part of being in Lavasa.
